Ideas rarely appear fully formed. They begin as fragments. Insights, data, research...possibilities. Creativity lies in exploring how those pieces connect. As connections emerge, ideas develop and the story takes shape.
From the thinking to the making, it all happens in-house at our creative studio based in the Cotswolds. We work with organisations tackling complex challenges, from science and policy to brand and behaviour, helping them translate insights into stories. Our award-winning work spans film, animation and rich digital content.
The stories that stay with us are the ones that make us feel something. Eliciting emotion, whatever the subject, is central to how we work at Spellbound — it draws people in, holds their attention and allows ideas to resonate.
By connecting insight with emotion, we help organisations reach new audiences while deepening existing ones, driving awareness, conversion and loyalty.
Places aren’t just seen. They’re experienced. What people connect with goes beyond the surface. It’s the atmosphere, the energy, the details that give somewhere its character.
Our work in travel documentaries has taken us across the world, capturing stories in real time. We’re drawn to the energy of unscripted narratives, where the story isn’t controlled, but discovered.
Complexity often hides the most compelling human stories. We thrive in uncovering and distilling those narratives, bringing structure and clarity to ideas that can otherwise feel overwhelming.
Supported by animation and motion graphics, we use data as a strategic ingredient to inform design, narrative and experience.
Our showreel brings together a selection of our work, highlighting our ability to move fluidly between styles, techniques, and subject matter. From refined, design-led animation to more expressive and exploratory pieces. At its heart, Spellbound’s work is about clarity, craft, and storytelling, using motion and design to communicate ideas in ways that feel intuitive, engaging, and memorable.
We have partnered with AstraZeneca for over a decade, working closely with their communications teams to develop content that brings complex science, innovation and organisational change to life. During a period of significant transformation in drug discovery and manufacturing, including advances in next-generation therapeutics, AI-driven research and new production technologies, we have translated highly technical subject matter into clear, engaging narratives for a wide range of audiences, from internal teams to external stakeholders.
This particular project began as an internal employee engagement campaign to drive a sense of shared ownership, excitement and collaboration across the UK.
This minimalistic animation emerged from a dense, stat-laden collection of corporate documents. Our job was to crystallise the message. Find a shape and form to communicate it. And ensure it was versatile but powerful.
As part of a six-year collaboration with Titan Travel, we travelled to Peru to uncover archaeological treasures, traverse the dramatic landscapes of the Andes, and explore one of the New Seven Wonders of the World – Machu Picchu. Collaborating with local historians, ecologists and geologists, we developed narratives that reveal the layers of history and geology shaping the region. We reworked and optimised across platforms, extending their reach and allowing the content to adapt to different audiences and contexts.
We travelled to South Africa with Titan Travel to seek out the Big Five in Kruger National Park, journey along the dramatic Garden Route, and end in Cape Town to film Table Mountain. Working with local historians and wildlife experts, we developed narratives that reflect both the cultural context and the realities of the natural environment. Filming wildlife in its natural habitat meant working with uncertainty. Long periods of waiting, fleeting moments of action, and the need to be ready with the right equipment at exactly the right time. And to stay calm, at night, when face to face with a lioness and her cubs and a grumpy elephant.
We have worked extensively with the UK Government across a range of departments, leading the development of content that translates complex and evolving policy into clear, engaging narratives. A significant focus of this work was within the energy sector, where we collaborated closely with stakeholders including EDF and National Grid. These projects required aligning multiple perspectives, from policymakers to industry leaders.
The Powerful Women project involved highlighting the lack of women in the energy sector, especially at board level. In fact, at the time only 12.5% of directors on energy company boards were female.
The film was played at a major event in London to launch the Powerful Women campaign which seeks to advance the professional growth and leadership development of women across the UK’s energy sector. We had 2 weeks to get all 9 interviews filmed as well as shoot enough B-roll and source additional archive footage to make the film as visually compelling as possible.
Our work across the energy sector included the development, production and delivery of a series of animations explaining the energy challenge in the UK.
The animations became the visual identity of the energy challenge and we supported the production of the brand elements across online, print and social media. This included the creation of a UK roadshow which turned the energy challenge into a series of debates nationwide. We filmed and edited these debates making them available across multiple platforms.
